Mean cynical humor so bear that in mind going in. If you don't like a little mean spirited humor, this movie will offend you. However, it's not brutally ignorant for the sake of being ignorant as those easily offended will likely describe it. Hidden amongst all the nastiness there still is a decently written script and much clever and subtle humor. If you watch the movie and don't get the 'shark' bit in the storyline, you run on a different wavelength than a lot of people who will find the movie very clever. As well as Segel being a funny and interesting character as he's apt to be when given decent material, the supporting cast is a pretty darned funny bunch. For me there were several burst out in laughter scenes. Diaz was hot and funny, mostly funny as a pretty hard to like character for large portions of the movie. I imagine most guys will find the car wash scene many times funnier than it is sexy, but Diaz certainly did the car wash justice in the eye candy department as well. Again, easily threatened women may not see the cynical humor if overly put off by the sexy overtones of the gag. Not that Hollywood or comedy has any social responsibility where teaching morality is concerned, but the overall messages in the story are good and honest. The gags and characters are just pretty darned funny. Close to an 8 for me, as this type of comedy is right up my alley.
