Really, really good movie. Great characters, interesting and very likable, which I can't always say about Wes Anderson's characters, even when I thoroughly enjoy his films. This time though, the great talent is put to good use in bit parts while the leads are played by two young, relatively unknown kids that, like their seasoned counterparts, say a lot with mere expression or subtle to not so subtle actions. It's mostly drama with some lighthearted humor sprinkled in. The use of soundtrack, as is usually the case with Wes Anderson's movies, is superb and really adds to the ambiance of a once again surreal world filled with sentiments that ring with truth both bitter and sweet. The movie deserved a bit of a poetic slant even in its reviewing I felt, so there it is. Bottom line, I really loved it and would have to say it's the best movie I've seen for a long time, likely this entire disappointing year, and possibly a lot further back than that.
