Not normally a Dreamworks fan. Aside from the original Shrek and How to Train Your Dragon, I've generally been unimpressed, particularly with their biggest hit Madagascar. Can that even be right? HOWEVER, if everyone doesn't get their kids out to see this than it really would be sad. I loved Dragon, it was really fun, but this was exceptionally well written, with wonderful and incredibly imaginative characters and fantastic use of the 3D Dreamworks pride themselves on. As a grown-up I was fully taken into the magical world they dreamed up and my 4 year old was as still and attentive as he's ever been in a theatre to date. All of the voice acting was well done and well suited and again, though I'm not normally a fan at all, Jude Law was a show stopper as the evil Bogey Man or Pitch Black as he was referred to as well. So with key things like a studio I don't generally love, and a main actor I don't normally care much for at all working against it, that I should have loved this movie so much is truly remarkable. If you love good animation, yet abhor the lousy writing that often accompanies it under the excuse of 'just for kids anyway', then this is an animated flick for you. By all rights this deserves to become a famous classic.
