Meryl Streep is reason alone to see THE IRON LADY. The movie might be lacking in some areas but such an indelible performance should not be missed under any circumstances. Miss Streep so inhabits the character of Ms Thatcher to such a degree that I cannot fathom how she did it, and how she does it, one incredible performance after the next. SHE REALLY DESERVES AND BETTER GET THE OSCAR. SHE HAS 17 NOMINATIONS, but hasn't won an Oscar in 30 years. That is regrettable. I love Viola Davis, but her performance in THE HELP, great as it is , is more in vein of a supporting role. I will be very, very ticked off if Meryl does not win this year. It would be a travesty of justice. Mind you she has already won so many awards for THE IRON LADY, as said, but THE OSCAR would be the full validation. By the way, she won best actress from The New York Film Critics and a slew of other awards for THE IRON LADY. On Feb. 12 at BAFTA... the British Academy Awards, she took best actress and the Berlin Film Festival bestowed its golden bear LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD on Meryl some weeks ago. She is without doubt one of the greatest actors ever. Her roomfull of awards testify to this.
