I've been pretty hard on Zac Efron in most of his recent films, rating them a 1 or a 2. For whatever reason, I found myself caught up in the story of a U. S. Marine from 2012, as cliché as it might be. If the film is too sentimental, it is also a very sensitive one with a trio of actors whom I got to like immensely. I actually enjoyed the chemistry between Zac and Taylor Schilling and was moved by their plight. And the beautiful Blythe Danner again pulls off a real treat of a performance. She's a magnificent, effortless theatre and film actor.
