I am a person very much into the arts, theatre, ballet especially opera (my true passion) as well as my great love for movies. I enjoy the plastic arts or fine arts if you will immensely, but I have 0 talent when it comes to actually painting on any level. I have the utmost admiration for those with the miraculous gift of portraying their thoughts through art. So when I saw this Penn and Teller documentary about Tim's Vermeer, I was blown away as TIM explains the art of Vermeer as an art way ahead of it's time through his stylistic techniques, techniques that literally blew me away. I do know quite a number of works by Vermeer, works I prize as wondrous and beautiful. After seeing this documentary my whole approach and understanding of Vermeer changed 100%. I can actually see what Tim is talking about. What a discovery! It should be noted that Tim has worked on Vermeer painting most of his life so he's the man to contact to get all the juicy bits about this remarkable painter, Johannes Vermeer. Tim is a pretty remarkable dude himself for finding in Vermeer what we now take for granted. Great documentary!
