'Town Without Pity' is a gritty crime drama from 1961 which showcases Kirk Douglas in a fine performance. E. G. Marshall, an iconic supporting player is on hand as is Christine Kaufmann who was a rising star with much promise in the 1960's. Somehow she simply dropped off the radar after a brilliant start. More than the film itself is the famous Oscar Nominated song by Dmitri Tiomkin 'Town Without Pity' a # 1 hit sung by huge recording star of the 60's, Gene Pitney. The Oscar winning song in '61 was none other than another number one hit, MOON RIVER by Henry Mancini.
