    About a Boy

A laugh-out-loud comedy with a darker edge than I was expecting. Hugh Grant handles the drama and comedy well and when his character's self-centeredness starts to turn around (and of course you knew it would!) , he makes it believable. Strong supporting performances by Toni Collette and Rachel Weisz. The young actor playing the pivotal role of Marcus holds his own among the adults and his character's devotion to his mother is truly touching. I have not read the book but it's now on my list of "must-reads".
