From the very beginning, the setting & mission is clear. Two "parachutes" from London are given a mission. How the story unfolds and the events that follow are the real gem of the movie and unveil characters and plot turns that are subjected to the most difficult decisions, in the hardest of times.
From a drama perspective, its hard to beat. The realism, acting and storyline are all well drawn out, especially the characters and acting which provide a real sense of tragedy among the events that are portrayed. Cillian Murphy is unquestionably the star of the show, and while I don't see an oscar win from the performance, its certainly worthy of a nomination.
His portrayal is profoundly intense & passionate.
To think that these events actually occurred is simply mind-boggling given that I live in Canada and it is a normally peaceful place. However, it certainly gives me much to think about with regards to what other people are going through in the world right now. Liberty & freedom are certainly topics that resonated in my mind as I was seeing the picture and something I certainly had a renewed appreciation for.
I can certainly recommend the movie to those that are interested in WW2 dramas but not for the faint of heart as some scenes (though not many) can be especially gruesome.
