Well after seeing this movie I can understand why certain individuals would say that the cinematography was not up to par or even that the violence was too much to bear. But I must say that they natural way the movie was shot was totally in sync with the story. We are actually just digging in to the way of life, the mindset, the culture in a very beautifull way. To say that the violence is extreme is an undertsatement because I shows cruelty at its most primitive level. Isn't the idea of superiority of one group/individual to another the true plague of humanity? The Mayan civilization certainly felt that way as did numerous other rulers (even in our so called-modern times) The story certainly is worth the watch in itself. The acting and language come flawlessly together as if we were thrown into their lives without the numerous "hollywood" filters, despite its being well-packaged for mass marketing. Not a movie to bring the whole family too but definitely one to fulfill that littel bit of curiousness on the topic that we may have. Loved the acting, loved the way the story was told.
