This movie is really enjoyable. It has a sort of Disney feel to it that may not appeal to all. It's an inspirational story about Afro-Americans that has been "white-I-fied" to appeal to the masses and it is appealing. There are some Hip Hop references and a lot of Hip Hop clothing featured in the film but it is not overwhelming at all. This film is a welcome change from the shoot em' up gang films and "booty" videos that have been all the rage for some time and keep white people away from black casted films. I don't think Spike Lee would like this "joint" but so what. As for all of the controversy surrounding the Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King references, it's all a bunch of whining as the statements have to be taken into context. They were presented to stimulate conversation in and out of the Barbershop. Plus it created a big buzz for the movie. This is sort of a grown up version of the Fat Albert show we used to watch on Saturday mornings. Go see it. Cedric the Entertainer is hilarious!
