Always on the verge of being really bad, but somehow the film comes out whole and funny. Some good last-minute cutting. (Just watch the deleted scenes to realize how close it came to being a terrible, hyper-juvenile junk film.) What holds it together and makes it a film to remember (for some while) is the character development. These aren't the usual flat comedy caricatures!
