The reception for Room has been outstanding. I've seen so many reviews raving about this film, so I was really excited to see it for myself. After having seen it, I could say that Room is one of the most powerful and emotional films I've seen all year.
The acting all around is superb. Brie Larson gives an Oscar worthy performance, displaying so much realistic emotion. The real standout here is 8-year-old Jacob Tremblay, who gives a better performance than the majority of adult actors this year.
The story of Room is captivating and really powerful. The first half of the film all takes place in one room, and it works flawlessly. The relationship between the mother and son was so realistic and believable that I was completely invested in their journey. Though the plot seems slightly uneventful after a certain point, it continues to be captivating until the very last shot.
The musical score, editing, and cinematography were all fabulous as well. My only flaw with Room was that the pace began to drag a bit during the second half of the film. I won't spoil anything, but after a certain event, not much else happens.
Overall, Room is a beautifully acted drama with a captivating story and excellent emotion. See it!
