    Signs

I had high expectations of this movie, based on the trailer and Shyamalan's "The Sixth Sense". Well, I'm sad to say "Signs" is a big disappointment. I'll start with some positives. I like the cast; kids are cute, Phoenix does the best he can with a limited part, Gibson has great chemistry with the children and shines in the emotional scenes. Although I usually dislike the use of flashback, I found it quite effective in this film. The family dynamic was probably the most interesting aspect of the whole movie. The explanation behind the crop circles and mysterious goings-on is a big "huh? " I found myself laughing where I shouldn't have (ie. During a supposedly scary scene) and that is definitely not a good sign (pun not intended) The movie had great potential with its themes of faith and belief in a higher power but it just falls flat.
