I had to laugh in agreement when I read that one critic called this 'one of the best films of the year'--laugh because it's been such a dreadful year for films that it wouldn't be hard to fall into that category. Think hard people, and remember 6th Sense; put 'Signs' up against it and you'd think Night's new project is average at best. Average because there are too many holes, too many unanswered questions. The flick takes far too long to 'take off'; at times the dialogue is trite. There are however, genuinely frightening scenes, and most likely many of you, as I did, will want to talk about what happened long after you see it. Unfortunately, some of what will creep into your conversation will be doubts about the movie's 'authenticity'. Nevertheless, it's still a 'good' movie, and well worth seeing. Will Night ever come close to replicating the brilliance of 'Sixth Sense'? Not if he doesn't take more time to seriously analyze the scripts that he writes, and that which can be improved.
