In this dark comedy, the protagonist Justine has a decision between remaining where she is, the topic of gossip and enduring misery, and the beautiful unknown. The crossroads is both literal and figurative, so a wee bit of spoon feeding must be tolerated. A secret adds a bit of mystery and escape from monotony, but a delicate balance is impossible to maintain in a town where everyone wants to escape. I liked the ending. Justine and her husband, Phil finally seem to understand each other at least a little bit, and that’s a nice change.
