I never read The Great Gatsby. I will probably be forced to later in high school, but I didn't know the story. Honestly, I really liked it. THE EFFECTS: This movie looked absolutely beautiful. We all expected it, considering it's a Baz Luhrmann film. But, this was a truly incredible looking film. As Ryan said, " Why the [...] was there 3D!?!?!?!?!". I really don't know, because it didn't need it, but it did make the movie look better. This movie is worth seeing because of the effects and graphics. 9.5/10 THE ACTING: This casting was perfect. Leonardo Di Caprio was incredible, once again, as Gatsby (this guy NEEDS an Oscar) Tobey Maguire (Spiderman) was pretty good as Nick Carraway, and Carey Mulligan was fantastic once again. However, the standout in the cast was Joel Edgerton. He was incredible, amazing as his character. 9/10 THE PLOT/SCRIPT: The main problem with this film is the pacing. The first 30-45 minutes were incredibly boring. The plot was exactly as the book was, so I've heard. And the script was quite well written. 7.25/10 OVERALL: A boring, but very well acted and interesting film. Looks beautiful, and is a nice movie to see when you are in the mood for a good drama. RATING: 7.75/10.
