This is a gimmicky comedy like Liar, Liar, Bruce Almighty, and the recent Yes Man but it has, within in, insightful messages about the benefits of believing in religion (even though we realize that it's B. S.)and why our hearts should overule our minds (when it comes to choosing that special someone) I have never seen Ricky Gervais before, but he has a very British type of comic timing and delivery; this movie would not be as good with someone like Jim Carrey as it's star. Jennifer Garner is adorable as Gervais' reluctant love interest. This film gives hope to all of us chubby, pug-nosed men.
