This movie is about a story that reminds us what would have happened if some american artists wouldn't intervene during the Second World War when Hitler was taking possession of all form of art across Europe. The cast is great. The screeplay is well written. Emotional by times, laughs, tears, well what can I say? Great movie. One of a few things that the Americans did some good during that war...

If the Americans had not intervened in WWII in a huge scale with all the weaponry, men and materiel they gave to Europe and the massive losses they suffered themselves, Europe might be part of the Third Reich today. The Monuments Men were not artists but art historians who were tasked with recovering art looted by the Nazis and they did a stellar job. But it was the American and Allied (and Canadian) forces dying in the battlefield that allowed the Monuments Men to get on with that job.
As an historian, I can assure you that it was not ONLY Americans that restore those art collection...
