This movie was just ok. It had funny parts (most of them were in the trailer), but I just can't give this movie any more than a 6/10. I went into this movie with absolutely no expectations at all. So please don't think I was expecting a gem or a really funny movie. And, for the record, I love chick flicks. So don't jump to conclusions because I'm a man. I just found that the story seemed to borrow from several other movies, like "How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days"," Four Weddings and a Funeral"," Love Actually"," Pretty Woman". Of course, relationship movies will be similar. But I just saw big storyline elements pop right out from other similar movies. The acting was good. Katherine Heigl certainly has a career after her run on Grey's Anatomy. I had really liked her in The Ringer, and of course in Knocked Up. James Marsden plays his role very well, although at some point he will have to take on different roles than just ones in which he flashes his patent smile. Edward Burns is, well exactly like Edward Burns is in all his roles. In my opinion, this guy has no range. And Malin Akerman just doesn't do it for me as an actress. I did not care for her in The Heartbreak Kid (nor did I care for the movie itself) and I don't care for her in this movie either. The movie drags in more than one spot. It seems like they lost track of what type of movie they were doing (comedy, drama, dramedy) It's a good thing I went into this movie with absolutely no expectations at all, or I would have been really disappointed. It's not a bad movie, but it could and should have been so much better. 6/10. No more.
