I'm not a Saw fan. Let's get that out of the way. I will admit that I saw the first 3, and that of those I most prefered the first one for its originality. I found the other 2 to be simply regurgitating plots. So seeing this 7th one was a stretch as I have not seen the previous 3. But being a fan of horror movies in 3D, I decided to cave in and give it the old college try. My biggest problem: this movie did not need to be in 3D. Both My Bloody Valentine and The Final Destination were much better uses of 3D in horror movies. This one would have been the same viewing enjoyment in traditional 2D. And I see that the same old plot regurgitations are still being employed, so I definitely did not miss anything original in the previous 3. I will admit that this movie did have good suspense and plenty of gore, so I must give it a not bad rating. But I cannot give it more as some of the traps were redundant. Kudos for the very first trap in the opening scene though! A generous 6/10, but I'm still miffed at having to pay more to see it in 3D when it really did not need to be in 3D.
