This film is pure John Ford magic. It was not easy for him to get the financing for this because he wanted to film on location in Ireland, something rare in those days. So he made several 'Westerns', the blockbuster of the 50's to get the money for it and we should be so grateful that he did! The script is fantastic and the soundtrack is unforgettable. Add to this the cast of Irish players including John Fords older brother, the Fitzgerald brothers, Maureen and her two brothers, and a cameo by JW's kids, you could say this is a family endeavour filled with love. The 'courtship ritual' and the 'the fight' alone are cinematic entertainment gems. So yes, you could say I recommend and then some!
