With expectations as high as can be," Part 2" disappoints. No, this isn't a masterpiece, nor is it a disaster. It was the inconsistent pace, and the off-tempo flow of the film which made "Part 2" a disappointing finale. For most of the film, the visual look of it was purely exciting, and full of energy. It just kept on annoying me that they still don't have the balls to show some of the deaths of the main characters, and focus not enough on what is going on other than Harry's journey to find, and destroy the horcruxes. I felt the emotional impact, but David Yates continues to not take risks. I expected the last two films to be the Harry Potter movies to take risks, and show us stuff we haven't ever seen in Harry Potter, which at times we get, but not enough to actually blow me away. I never got the feel that this took the series to another level, but the level of excitement was surely raised throughout "Part 2" without question. For such a grand scale film, they don't use the budget to take it to next level. The ending, on the other hand, was powerful in its own way, but I didn't feel it as much as I expected to. I think the ending would've had more power if they faded out at Hogwarts instead of just show the 3 main characters, and fade out. The franchise wasn't just about the 3 characters, it was about Hogwarts as well. In fact, most of the films took place at Hogwarts, and the whole story of the magical world was based around Hogwarts as well. I'm not trying to bash the ending because it was good, but it could've been really powerful if it was done differently. As good as "Part 2" looked, if they showed some of the deaths of some of the main characters, and extended the film by at least 10-15 minutes, this could've been the great summer movie of 2011. Instead, as ironic as it is, we get enough good but not great Harry Potter movie, which almost every film in the series is. The blame goes to David Yates, and Warner Bros.
