Alex Gibney's new doc about Steve Jobs provides much different thinking of this once golden boy. I suppose nothing is completely black or white about any individual, especially one as high profiled as Jobs. We see the master mind behind Apple and the secular cult that emerged about him."The Man in the Machine" might be a merciless anatomy of a public character, but Gibney's likes to add: "What's the fuss about? " The documentarian successively goes on to re-evaluate Mr. Jobs: his role at Apple; his massive overseas tax shelters; the scandalous Chinese factories; the backdated stock options. It's a chunky mix with Jobs's less savoury activities. He was looked upon as a saint and miracle worker for far too long. He's as fallible as the next fellow. My thinking on him has certainly been reversed.
