I absolutely adored this comedy drama by Curtis Hanson with Michael Douglas, Frances McDormand, Robert Downey Jr. and Katie Holmes. The film was not well received on its release, thus released once again later in the same year trying a different angle at its P. R. It simply didn't attract the public even with the great OSCAR WINNING SONG of that year by BOB DYLAN, one of his greatest. So many, even as expressed on C C found it difficult to follow this outrageous plot about a college professor who is stuck in neutral as to his writing career. So he's off like the wind in a madcap comedic drama that almost reminded me of screw ball comedy. There is really nothing difficult about the film at all. I must repeat I don't understand why so many had problems with it. I took it all in as a mini-road movie that led us to the most unusual places and the most outlandish of circumstances never once questioning the why of it all. A MASTERFUL, FUN FILM! The cast is exhilarating!
