I came in wanting to see what Tom Ford would do with a movie. As a heterosexual, I had my reservations however, the acting was good, the directing excellent and all seemed to convey the emotions and life of the main character. In that sense the movie succeeded superbly. However, a movie is, to me, more than simply a beautiful portrayal of a character, great cinematography and excellent direction. It needs to be aimed at taking the viewer away into another world. While the movie initially promised a lot, the Pace was slow to a fault, ultimately going into a redundant theme that quickly dissipated my initial interest. It's a great debut for Tom ford. His touches as a fashion mogul are all over the place and quite frankly is was refreshing to see such attention to detail and care for artistic delivery. Hopefully all the things that worked for this movie can be taken and worked in script that keeps the viewer's interest more in mind. Good Job but this movie had the makings of being Great, potentially oscar-great, not just good.
