John Sayles comedic film romance of a middle-class girl in senior H. S. falling for a blue collar worker. Rosanna Arquette and Vincent Spano are perfect in their roles and know exactly what they are in for. Yet with all the variances of life, director Sayles never lets one quite forget that there are class differences from which it is hard to extricate oneself. In this respect the film is a bit dated but not altogether so if one looks at society's view on key points of life.
