I really don't know how to rate this movie. I can't say I enjoyed it or felt inspired in any way at all. I realize it was based on a true story about a gay Cuban writer, but what a horrible life he lead and not only by where he was born, but he chose the route he did in his life. I don't know if I was supposed to feel sorry for him or what! I was expecting a drama about a Cuban writer who was born into poverty and who was wrongly accused of a crime, who happened to be homosexual, but instead what I saw was a movie about a homosexual man and his trists, who happened to write a novel that finally got published years later, and who happened to get accused of a molestation crime. It was a depressing and disgusting tale of homosexual life in Cuba! Yes, Javer did some excellent acting, but that's about it.
