I saw it in Shanghai in October 2010 during the Shanghai Expo. The movie was widely released in China and in other Asian countires. Though ambitious, it was a poorly crafted piece of work! I have to be honest: I could not believe how the "leading" actress Liu even got a Hongkong Oscar nomination! Perhaps the heavy powder on her face was precious and award worthy!.. The story was poorly told by Xu que and the acting was miniminal... By the way, the makeup couldn't hide the aging face of Andy Liu... Sorry, the story will be soon re-filmed again as they were historical events in the Chinese history! Of course, if you are a fan of the director himself, you may find it mindlessly entertaining... However, there are now many much better films from China now. So please forget about the so-called big-directors' films, and bring the good and quality Chinese films to North America!
