If you are a person who enjoys this genre of movie, that is to say, classic English literature adapted to film, then I highly recommend this film. Thomas Hardy's characters, places and times, leap from the page onto the screen with an authenticity and lushness that is nothing short of breathtaking. Accompanied by an beautiful, rich score, and cinematography that captures well, the majestic scenery of England's southern coast and the rural life found there, the on-screen magic between between Carey Mulligan (Bathsheba Everdene) and Matthias Schoenaerts (Gabreil Oak) will leave you cheering. I have no hesitation rating this one a 10. This is one for my collection.
