Click here to show this review. A good concept and decent movie. However, not one of Vince Vaughn’s best rolls. He didn’t carry it. And his dialogue was rambly and whinny that left you not listening, when the writers could have given him crisp, killer one liners that would have made the movie. So, bad casting and bad writing (or directing – hard to say if those lines were adlibbed) The writing continued to be problematic when it bit off way more than it could chew. Way too many problems to solve by Christmas, way too many troubled characters, and little time. It leaves a lot of the problems and characters undeveloped. The business deal, the bad girlfriend relationship, Santa’s health, the orphan, the shy single elf, the troubled auditor, the parent relationship….. too many problems to recall. I was ready for a major eye roll when a dozen problems would be solved happily ever after in the ending. It did seem to work though. I found Kevin Spacey once again pulled off a good act.
