Godzilla

This is unlike any Godzilla film I’ve ever seen before, and it was an unforgettable thrill ride. The CGI is really what makes it so great. Director, Gareth Edwards sure did a tremendous job at recreating the famous mutant creature, Godzilla, King of the Monsters! He has a great eye for detail, point of view, and efficiency. I have to say my first initial reaction when I saw Godzilla on screen was one of awe and wonder. He seemed so realistic... high-powered, and menacing. The sound of his superior roar was almost deafening, startling. It reminded me so much of the way the T-Rex sounded from Jurassic Park. Also, the Muto monsters are quite something else. They certainly captured my interest as they went at it with Godzilla. Aside, from that, story was good... liked how the military’s involvement centered around the main events. However, the movie starts out a bit slow in the beginning before things get off the ground. Also, some of the characters are a little dull, but the leads are certainly not. Bryan Cranston's performance is outstanding. Aaron Taylor-Johnson is just good but not great, and Elizabeth Olsen does a very impressive job. I thought this movie too had superb direction and a wonderful music score. Then to top it off there’s the riveting action sequences. There’s enough things going on to have your head spinning in every direction, keeping your full attention. The surprising amount of suspense will have you on the edge of your seat, anticipating of what is next to come. There are plenty of jaw-dropping scenes of mayhem, explosions, and ruin. Of course they saved the best for last with the insanely relentless battle between Godzilla and the Mutos. Have to admit Godzilla sure knows how to kick-ass... he’s no pushover. Overall, an epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this film delivers and is a must-see.
