I, Robot

I, Robot is based on the shorty stories of one of the best science-fiction writers of all time, Isaac Asimov. I think that for people who have read the short stories he wrote on this topic the expectations were very high. I myself have not read them, but have heard some great things and intend to do so. I, Robot's strength as a film comes largely from a strong script with relateable characters and cliche but charming dialouge. While the story of robots turning on humanity may be an old one, it is molded into something quite unique. The CGI robots are great, in particular their movement and the voice acting of Sonny who bears an eeiry similarity to 2001: A Space Odessy's Hal. Will Smith is not as good as I've seen him in the past, but he is bearable and the "achoo, sorry I'm allergic to bullsh--" line is hilarious. The futurisitic world of I, Robot bears an uncanny resembelence to Steven Spielberg's masterpiece Minority Report as the stories take place around the same time. Although to compare the films themselves is folly because Minority Report is one of the best science-fiction films of all time, I, Robot is nowhere near that calliber. Good film though, and worth the cash. Definitely see it in theaters or rent the DVD sometime.
