Into the Storm

Click here to show this review. Despite all the really bad criticisms, I went seeing this movie at the movie theater because I wanted to get entertained. Generally, I like watching this kind of film (disaster movie) on big screen with the sound turned up to the maximum. Of course, it wasn't what I call a good movie due to its poor scenario and the illogical and irrelevant reaction of some characters upon such disaster. Therefore, I knew that before buying my ticket and I was «minded» to only admire good special effects. By keeping down my expectations, I came out with a little smile and I was even surprised that the acting was not so bad after all. In fact, I was quite surprised even if any of the actors that played in this film deserve an Oscar. So guys come on, you can't compare it to the movie «Twister» and you knew like me that this kind of movie focuses more on delivering incredible special effects than illustrating an original story. We have to know what we can expect from a movie before seeing it to avoid being disappointed. However, I put a 6 because the corresponding description «Not bad, could be much better» is the most suitable. In fact, the movie was not bad after all, it just missed something crucial. It had all the aspects to make it really excellent, but remained totally predictable. The dramatic familial situation (for example with the mother being gone and the father hardly getting along with the children), the passionate guy chasing tornadoes whom its death was guaranteed during the movie, the teenagers being rescued at the very last second... all those aspects have been over-exploited in other movies. But again, I would qualify this movie as «not bad, appropriate to get entertained by visual effects on a Saturday night».
