Why Peter Jackson chose Jack Black to play a leading role in the much too long CGI laden "King Kong" is anybody's guess."King Kong" faithfully follows the original movie's concept of giant ape meets girl and falls in love. Of course the production design was spot on the money and the scenes between "King Kong" and his love interest were visually amazing as were the numerous action scenes. The only thing that really bothered me was Jack Black's amazingly bad acting disability. He should have been cast in a lesser role. Maybe he could have played the ape. At least a half hour could have been cut out of this way too long movie. Certain scenes didn't add anything to the plot being left in primarily as CGI "eye-candy". Almost 3 hours long, this version of "King Kong" has very little replay value. Once you've seen it that's pretty much it.
