Don't confuse Academy Award Nominee KON -TIKI of 2012 for another Kon-Tiki that was released a few years earlier. The films are miles apart. I can totally empathize with the Norwegian THOR about his initial apprehension of the long, dangerous trip not knowing how to swim. Have no idea how he got up the courage as I can barely swim a stroke. This perilous journey proves Thor had to be a natural born leader both wise and able to navigate by the stars and the current of the Pacific. The one thing that has me slightly at odds was his determination to prove his theory at whatever cost! It's not as if his theory would change anything for the betterment of mankind! His success would be the definite proof of a theory he always subscribed to. So I don't particularly understand all these enormous sacrifices at such devastating costs. Was he even a happy, content man with his discovery taking into account all he had to discard to launch the Kon-Tiki? It's something I can't comprehend fully, something that raced in my mind through most of the movie thus putting a bit of a damper on the entire film.
