This Oscar Winner for Best Foreign Language Film for 1991 was somewhat of a surprise win from all I have read but after viewing it, it just knocked my socks off. Set during WW II on a Greek Island these Italian Soldiers caught in a bit of a Paradise becomes one of the weirdest but most delightful films on themes about WW II. The mainly unknown cast works so well as an ensemble because of a script ( in Italian ) that is simply superb. Italian is my first language so thankfully I had no need of sub-titles, which never get the original script quite as it should be. Add to this delightful touches of humour, Italian Style and the astounding Greek beauty of the colour cinematography... well what you get is a total winner. Very Highly Recomended!
