To say that this movie was disappointing would be an understatement. It was a real groaner... painful to watch. This was the first time I ever walked out, but I could not endure another minute of it. I was not alone. I witnessed other people getting up and leaving the theater. What surprised me the most was the fact that these well seasoned actors, Edward Norton, Bruce Willis, and Bill Murray could possibly be in a film of this caliber. They should stick to what they do best, Murray in comedies, Willis in action-packed flicks, and Norton in dramas. I found they were so out of place, it was ridiculous. The movie's storyline was very boring. There was really nothing original about it... been there, seen that. Also, I thought the film was poorly scripted, lacked direction, and the dialogue very dull. The only mentionable thing about "Moonrise Kingdom" is that it had lots of lovely nature scenes, and that the kids who starred in it were cute, but that's about it. However, I was so surprised from the high ratings of some of the other reviews I read. Well, I guess to each his own. The only reason why I saw this picture was that I won advance screening passes. I'm glad I didn't have to pay to see this rubbish because I wouldn't have gone to see it in the first place. Really, it's not even worth seeing for free. Please do not see "Moonrise Kingdom"... you won't be missing much at all... believe me.

The reason why Moonrise Kingdom is getting rave reviews and all these "well seasoned actors" were in the film, is because they're in tune with Wes Anderson's vision and believe the "caliber" of his films to be very high. Actors want to work with him in the same way they want to work with other Auteur's such as Fincher, Nolan, & Tarantino. MK is far from the first time any of these actors have stepped out of their mainstream persona's. Bill Murray hasn't starred in a straight comedy in well over a decade (1997) Willis frequently subverts his tough guy image, and this is Norton's most memorable performance since the early 2000's. Vague comments regarding the career choices of successful actors, script-writing, and direction shows a lack of understanding of those fields. Dislike the film if you hated it so much you walked out, but the kind of "arm-chair critiquing" in your review is frustrating to read and does little to help a person make up their mind about whether or not they should see a film when you yourself did not.
