An extraordinary story, sensitively acted by the entire cast. The similarities between Mud and Ellis were intergenerational mirror images. The viewer is torn, watching the charismatic and manipulative Mud seizing upon the imagination and desire for adventure paramount for the two lads, despising him for it, yet feeling, at the conclusion, relief that he is still alive. A complex film. Every moment was gripping. There are many subtle nuances in this film that were strokes of film making genius. The viewer was there, in Dewitt. So realistic. Bravo.
