Synopsis
Sallah, a North African Jew who finds himself in a transit camp after immigrating to Israel in 1949, confronts the bureaucracy that stands in the way of his family's need for permanent housing. His recalcitrance in the face of the prevailing European work ethic and the community's cooperative values places him at odds with government representatives and kibbutz leaders, where he must learn to fight bureaucracy and corruption.
