I was 100% behind Mo'nique winning the Oscar for her portrayal as the mother because she was phenomenal. I couldn't believe how much I wanted to kill her and you know there's something there when you get that invested in a character. If it was only her in the movie, I'd give it a 10/10. The rest of the cast was good, but nothing compared to Mo'nique. I thought that Gabourey did a great job (especially after hearing her speak in real life!) and Mariah redeemed herself for her "Glitter" performance. It was the story line that made me gave it a 7. Don't get me wrong - what happened was very emotional and frightening. It's just that the flashes of Precious dreaming of becoming a movie star kind of took away from the overall story for me.
