For his directorial debut Dustin Hoffman picks a complete winner. Quartet is a such a pleasure to behold. A wonderful story in the same vein as the Exotic Marigold Hotel, it tells us about the golden years of retirement in a senior's home in England populated by retired opera singers and musicians. There's never a dull moment due to the wry sense of humour delivered by Billy Connolly and a plethora of some of the finest British character actors on the planet. Maggie Smith, Tom Courtenay, Pauline Collins and Micheal Gambon play the lovable eccentrics. There is a lot to be learned from our elder citizens who have been there before us. I thoroughly enjoyed every single minute of Quartet and I look forward to more fine films from Dustin Hoffman's directorial sensitivity. I wouldn't be surprised if this gets an Academy Award nomination. Very entertaining fare.
