Synopsis

"Life sentence. Risk of escape. Aggressive. Three murders", that is what is written at Boris Bezotechestvo's cell door. Like Citizen Kane's "No trespassing" sign, that warning is there only for the camera to ignore, and that's what Alexander Gutman does as he fearlessly infiltrates the perennial intimacy of a regular day in the life of a convicted felon. Without any stylization and keeping itself from making prison survival into a spectacle -- miles away from the gruesomeness of a prison's reality show -- , this documentary manages to capture every nuance of Bezotechestvo's lonely routine, from his energetic impulses to his reclusive sadness.
