This Canadian production, a so-called thriller literally presented no thrills at all plus a total lack of suspense. What begins with a newly discovered murder in small town Ontario eventually leads to dire consequences for a particular officer. The film is really quite bad starting with the film's structure and its obvious poor direction by Ed Donnelly. The initial murder investigation seems to go nowhere, almost put on the back burner to explore other incidents. Characters pop in and out to gossip so as to advance the plot. I found this technique very annoying. It's all very disconcerting. Small Town Murders seemed to be a disjointed series of events, almost pasted together with no deliberate thought for continuity. It was hard to watch as it created not an ounce of interest. I basically rambled through it, unable to tolerate it much! A truly poor film let alone thriller.
