This is definitely not Disney's version of Snow White, but I was very open-minded when I went to see this film, and I was not disappointed... not by a long shot... The story however may not appeal to everyone, though you should really see it anyway just to see Charlize Theron as the queen. She was just absolutely amazing and knocked the performance right out of the park. Theron's character captured that grim countenance, and she sparkled with fury and coldness. I felt she looked and acted like a true villainess, and indeed she stole every scene. It cannot be denied that she is such a beautiful looking woman. Anyway despite this being a much darker rendition of this beloved classic tale, there is great adventure and unexpected turns throughout that will intrigue you. The action in this movie is thrilling, the pace non-stop. I also thought there was good, solid acting as well from most of the cast. Kristen Stewart as Snow White was better than I thought she would be, but I'd say she is not really that great of an actress, though she's not the worst either. She was good in her role nonetheless. Stewart is very attractive in her looks, yet Theron clearly outshines her in this film on all accounts. As for the queen's brother, played by Sam Spruell, he gave a fine creepy performance, showing you that he was a bit off his rocker. I even liked the dwarfs, even if they weren't quite like the ones from Disney. What they were was unique, and it was amusing to see them cracking jokes to one another. At least it was nice to see they had a sense of humor, underneath their combative nature. I also enjoyed Chris Hemsworth as The Huntsman. He doesn't have Thor's power, but really handles himself pretty good. Also, the visuals are excellent in this flick and the special effects are incredible. Locations and sets are captivating and very fairyland like as well. The scenery is great to see too... remarkably vivid. Thought the mythical creatures and fairies added a pleasing touch to the movie's background. Loved the fabulous costumes, the hairstyles and make-up were just right. Besides that, this picture is also very clean, but I really would not recommend it to children younger than 12 due to some violence and scariness. Overall, "Snow White and the Huntsman" was very enjoyable... glad to have checked it out. Hope you like it as well.
