Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

Click here to show this review. Ok personally, lets get over the hoopla of all this star wars stuff and get down to the nitti gritti of what this movie is all about : money! That being said it isn't a bad film. Not at all. I think the thing that is missing in all of the new star wars movies is authenticity in the actors. Samuel L Jackson isn't bad and neither is Hayden for that matter but there is a certain something lacking in the acting of the others. For instance, when harrisson ford, etc... undertook the project, the took it because they felt passionate about the story, etc... (at least I think they did) When you see Natalie Portman and Ewan McGregor, I just feel like they are acting, like they aren't the characters we see. The love affair seems way too forced on the screen and the emotion doesn't come through at all. Princess Laya may not have been an actress that pusued an extraordinary career afterwards in hollywood but she was princess laya and none of her "acting" felt forced or unatural. You can't fake the public. The production however is impecable. The chancellor is extremely well-fitted as the Lord of the Sith. Had we been less of a star driven era and the actors be chosen on their passion for the story and the world of star wars, we would've had a more authentic picture that would've made the epic story into a more enjoyable, entertaining picture to watch. In addition, the inner troubles of Anakin skywalker could have been better drawn out. He is inevitably a profound character whose inner struggles were sort of passed through in the film. A more in depth knowledge of him in the movie would have made the transition to Darth Vader a lot more understandable. Altogether, the treason of the republic on the jedi and the action and comedic twist of R2D2 and yoda make this a very enjoyable movie to watch.
