Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens

I had a tough time because it lacked atmosphere and never really pulled me in. Some of the older cast felt so shoehorned into it in a way to appease fans. They played it safe, I went in with low expectations but I left feeling like it wasn't a truly bold and riveting adventure all the other Star Wars films managed to create in the memorable entertainment all the 6 others did. The music was terrible, it was a throwback to all the previous films but never hitting the chorus but going flat. A lot of the exposition took a while to establish, almost like a lot was forced to make things clearer but not embracing. We've seen this formula before but all the new intriguing elements to the story never played. It's a major letdown but ever since Empire Strikes Back Star Wars has been plummeting into video game dismay. It's no different here. It's a character driven story that isn't quite meant for the fan fiction which I liked but it wasn't well directed. Everything cool about the film became a clunky manifestation of overlong boredom. JJ tried, but was walking on thin ice with his vision. It was never fully grasped and I left very underwhelmed and amazed how forgettable it is. I still have the prequels and E6 manifesting within my memory no matter how bad they were. I went in a little nervous and unsure but so did JJ when he signed on.
