The American

The American certainly does not deserve the ratings its been receiving on the board. First off, this isn't an action movie. It isn't a Bourne-type movie. It's a monologue in much the same vein as "Up In The Air". I must say that these types of lonesome traveller one-man show movies certainly suit him well. There is no doubt that George's acting in this movie is of the very best kind and he is the only reason this movie works, with most other actors, this movie would have little merit. Nevertheless, he is surrounded by a wonderful cast all around of great italian actors as well who keep the movie interesting enough. Does the movie stretch out a little at times? Perhaps, but overall it's a genre that most people have to understand. If you want gory action go see Machete which is a great movie for it's genre.
