The Bourne Supremacy

Click here to show this review. They should've called this movie: The Bourne Return to Shaky-Cam. I thought we'd finished with this filmmaking craze of cinematographers using the shaky-cam style, evidently not as the Bourne Supremacy is released. Some movies can use shaky-cam effectively, others totally bomb it and ruin there movie. Luckily the Bourne Supremacy falls into the former catergory. We pick up Jason Bourne trying to live his life with his girlfriend on some tropical island. But someone will not leave him alone and hunts him down and in an effort to kill Bourne, murders his girlfriend while Bourne escapes and looks to exact revenge. Once he does the movie picks up speed to where it needs to be, cranks the throttle and doesn't stop. Full speed all the way. It works well and the movie ends at a brisk one hour and forty some odd minutes. Some interesting plot twists, and a fabulous car chase are the hilight of the film. The acting is subpar in most areas except for the part of the treacherous CIA agent who is portrayed brilliantly by Brian Cox. One of the better spy thrillers I've seen and certainly the best since Mission Impossible. As compared to the original Bourne Identity this film is a great improvement. It doesn't seem to try as hard to be an action flick and sticks to the basics of filmmaking which works well for it. Great spy movie, worth checking out.
