The Devil Inside

I'm glad I didn't listen to all the bad reviews of this movie. Personally, I thought "Devil Inside" was pretty good. This is not a big budget horror thriller by any means, nor may it be strikingly original, but I found it was entertaining nonetheless. If you're looking for an Academy Award film with amazing dialogue and special effects, go see something else. First off, this movie's beginning starts off rather slow, and then picks up, getting more and more intense. It has a good solid plot that flows well and keeps your full attention. Keep in mind this is a mockumentary style picture, so things do feel real on some level. There are a few scenes that made me jump however. Also, the strong and disturbing imagery got to me at some points during the film. The gore is a bit startling to say the least, but I felt it added a good element of horror and that it was not overdone. I must say I was quite impressed with the acting in this flick. Everyone played their roles well, especially the incredible creepy performance delivered by the girl's mother, locked away in a mental hospital. Besides that, the only thing that's kind of disappointing about this film is it's sudden abrupt ending. It leaves you hanging and makes you wonder if there'll be a sequel which is a given, seeing as how the bizarre set of circumstances played out in the final scene. Overall, I thought this picture had some great thrills and unexpected twists. If you liked "Blair Witch" and "REC", you'll take to "Devil Inside"... no doubt about it.
